Below read a short reprinted article on drugs as a treatment for anxiety disorders.

Are Drugs An Effective Treatment For Anxiety Disorders?

It is an alarming question to the anxiety affected patients whether drugs are an effective treatment for anxiety disorder or not, or how much effective treatment they get from the drugs. As researchers of the United States found out; drugs can help anxiety affected patients momentarily , but these drugs are not the ultimate solution for patients. Many researches conducted in the United States give some helpful result and those results plead for the efficiency of drugs. Different type of research suggests different type of result, but all the researches suggest the same fact that some drugs are effective for anxiety affected patients. However, not in all the cases as the effectiveness and duration of effect differ form one patient to another.

Certain factors are also important for the effectiveness of drugs for anxiety affected patients. Before using these drugs, counseling of mental patients is very essential. Proper counseling can give the intricate knowledge of a particular patient and also work effectively to find out a suitable drug. Various researches were conducted for the efficacy of drugs like Imipramine, Alprazolam, and Trazodone. While doing these researches, the researchers maintained a certain procedure and patients with particular mental disorder were kept under proper observation for many weeks.

Almost 74 patients were treated with placebo for three weeks and then active treatment of drugs was given for eight weeks. After eight weeks the researchers found that the Imipramine and Alprazolam are effective for patients, reducing their mental anxiety, and patients feel easiness about their mental problems. Alprazolam was started with its effectiveness within the first four weeks of treatment, and made a therapeutic effect on the patients. But Imipramine did not start effecting within the first four weeks; it took longer time and after the first four weeks this started effecting very slightly.

Although we have to keep in mind that in time these patients were under the placebo effect, they reported relief and felt more at ease when using "placebo drugs". They were out of their frequent anxiety attacks and started avoiding the phobia of anxiety.

The ultimate truth however is that medications only mask the problem and prolong your panic attacks. These prescriptions might work temporarily, but eventually the body starts to build a resistance and the dosage needs to be increased; then, eventually, the drug needs to be replaced with a different one and the cycle continues. Instead of getting to the root of your panic attacks, prescription medications just mask the problem. Instead of fixing the problems causing the condition, prescription medications sweep them under the rug until they work their way back out again. In order to avoid expensive medications, we have to go inside ourselves, back in time where anxiety began. Building a strong defense is imperative to ward off any lingering anxiety attack signs. Anxiety can be cured, confidence can be restored, and lives can return to normal. All it takes is persistence. After you beat one anxiety attack, you can do it again. 3 Treatments For Anxiety Disorder to Help You Cope

Anxiety disorder is a generalized term for many psychological conditions including obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress disorder as well as the many phobias. Treatments for anxiety disorder can vary depending on the severity as well as the type of disorder a person has. Some doctors would treat anxiety disorders using different antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as Zoloft, Paxil and Prozac. Other doctors even prescribe a combination of antidepressants to help treat the disorder.

However, most people are wary about taking antidepressants for fear of becoming too dependent on the drugs. These medications also have addictive properties in them that can have the patient rely heavily on them for help. Because of the synthetic chemicals in prescription drugs, more and more people are looking for alternatives treatments for anxiety disorders. Patients are looking for a more practical and long-term approach to treating anxiety. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Detoxification

Detoxification is actually more than a new-age relief for anxiety. Our ancestors have used this method to help cure several diseases including anxiety. One method used in detoxification is through fasting which combines the use of laxatives and lavage. Some people also add sauna therapy into the detoxification process. Detoxification can rid the body of harmful chemicals that have accumulated over the years. A short fast can also help invigorate the organs and give it a little rest. Often, a restricted diet consisting of fruits and vegetables can be beneficial. Mono-diets (eating only grapes or only apples) are also another option. However, if you decide to go on fasts that lasts more than 8 or 10 days, consult a physician first.

2. Yoga

Yoga is the perfect relation technique for people who seek the proper treatment for anxiety disorders. Yoga seeks to create peace within one's psyche, advocating positive thought and serenity. Yoga combines physical exercises (the asanas) with deep-breathing (yoga nidra), creating a truly tranquil emotional and spiritual experience. Yoga can not only help you relax but also take away factors that aggravate your anxiety.

3. Alternative Healing Methods (massage therapy and acupuncture)

Massage therapy can be traced back to a thousand years ago. Medical practitioners have used it to treat a variety of health-related problems including anxiety. It helps reduce stress, known to stimulate important chemicals in the body like serotonin and endorphins (called the happy hormones because they induce a feeling of well-being) and improve overall blood circulation.

An ancient Chinese method of healing the body, it dates back to almost 2, 500 years ago. The Chinese believes that there are patterns of energy flow in the body that corresponds to a certain point of health for one person. If this flow is interrupted, it can result in disease. This is what acupuncture tries to correct to improve one's health. It has already been acknowledge by most Western doctors to be applicable to certain health problems including the treatment for anxiety disorder.
